Gentry's Big Boy Bed

A few days after we got home from our big trip, we decided to move Gentry to his big boy bed. So that Friday night, Gentry helped Mommy and Daddy take apart his crib and bring in his big boy bed. Thanks to Aunt Laura and Uncle Matt, he even had a new quilt set for his new bed. Gentry seemed very excited to try his bed out. He climbed up on it immediately.

After a bedtime story, he laid down and went straight to sleep. We didn't hear him until about 3:30 the next morning. So I went in and laid with him until 6:15, which is his usual wake up time. This only happened the first two mornings, then he began to sleep from 7:15 at night until 6:15 in the morning, all by himself. We were so amazed at how easily he transitioned from the crib to the big boy bed. Nap time has been just as easy. We tell him it's time for night-night and we lay him down and he sleeps about 2 hours. We've been so blessed so have such an amazing little boy :)

Gentry's new bed (thank you Aunt Laura and Uncle Matt!).

We decided not to put it on the frame yet because if Gentry crawls out, we wanted him to be able to get back in by himself.

Mommy and Gentry in his big boy bed for the first time!

Reading his bedtime story before lights out.

Molly was pretty excited about the new bed, too.

This is how I found him napping today. I left him in there and he was laying down like he was going right to sleep. A few minutes later, I heard him talking and playing. I decided to wait a bit before going in, then when I went in, this is what I found! He had his sippy cup in arm, and his cow and Bible in his lap. So sweet!

Christmas in Maryland

After our visit in Virginia, we drove to Maryland to spend a week with Grandma and Grandpap Guard (and the rest of the family). Though it didn't snow while we were there, there had been enough snow in the previous days/weeks that we got to see snow the entire time we were there. We really enjoyed the cold weather. In fact, I miss it!
Gentry was thoroughly spoiled by grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Bare with me, there are a TON of pictures below:

Gentry with his Aunt Esther and Uncle Michael at Aunt Marie's day after Christmas party.

Gentry really wanted to go up to the farm with Uncle Jeremiah, so he put on the first pair of shoes he saw...I think he's got a few years before these will fit.

Sadie was VERY interested in helping Gentry unwrap all his gifts. Here he is admiring the train set that Grampa Genge got him.

Gentry got LOTS of farm themed things. He's checking out his book from Aunt Esther and Uncle Michael.

He got a really neat tent with a tunnel from Grandma and Grandpap. This kept Gentry and Sadie (their dog) busy for quite some time. They kept chasing each other through the tunnel and Gentry would just giggle. It was so funny.

Grandma putting the finishing touches on the snowman that cousin Garrett built.

Grandpap keeping Gentry entertained until it was time to go sledding.
Waiting for his big adventure to begin.

Gentry had it easy. It was hard work going up that hill!

Gentry's first trip down with Daddy.
And he LOVED it! He didn't seem scared at all.

Then it was his turn to ride with Mommy...
Mommy's not the best driver...we ended up like this each time he rode with me.
But Gentry didn't seem to mind :)
Great-Aunt Marie even went down a few times. (She's the reason I have all these great pics)

Gentry just couldn't get enough sledding. His first time went very well and we can't wait to take him again!

Riding back with Grandpap in the Ranger. (again, he seems to have the easy ride...)

Off they go.

The rest of us had to walk back.

But when pregnant Mommy got tired, Daddy was nice enough to pull me, too. He's so sweet!

Gentry loved when his Uncle Jeremiah played with him.
Gentry with his Aunt Amanda, she spoils him so much :)
Just before we left for the airport. A nice picture with Grandpap and Grandma.

Gentry was fascinated with the cow calendar that they had. He's counting the cows with Grandpap.
Saying goodbye to his good friend Sadie. They were such good playmates while we were there.
Thank you everyone for making this trip so fun. We really enjoyed our time with the family and all that we got to do.

Gentry's First Snow

It started snowing at about 4 p.m. on Christmas Day. We wound up getting 14 inches! I can't remember the last time I saw that much snow, especially in Southeast Virginia. Gentry couldn't wait to get out and play in it. So we suited up and out we went:

Ready and waiting to get out in the snow.

Making his first snowball :)

Attempting to walk on ice.

Wandering around in the snow. He just didn't know what to think of it all.

Christmas in Virginia

We started our East Coast trip with a week in Virginia at Mom's. It was so nice to be somewhere cold for Christmas. It's hard for it to feel like Christmas when it's in the 60's (some of you might like that, but not us). It seems like we were only at Mom's for a few days. We were super busy, trying to squeeze everything and everyone in, but had a great visit. If only it could have lasted longer! Here are just a few pics from our travels and Christmas Day.

Our family of 3 (soon to be 4) on Christmas Eve.

Opening presents at Nana's. My camera died after this picture so I'll have to get the rest from Mom later.

He may look innocent, but don't let him fool you :) Such a sweet little boy!
