Nana's Visit

My mom (Nana) came out for a visit last week. It was so nice to have her here. She was a big help with Gentry, as well as the housework. The first 12 weeks of this pregnancy have been hard on me. I hardly had the energy to do more than lay on the couch. So having her around was really nice. We tried to keep busy and here are some pics from our adventures:
After picking Mom up from the airport, we stopped in La Jolla to walk around and see the sites. It was a beautiful day and we really enjoyed the amazing scenery. We walked into town and ate at a little burger joint, then headed home.
A view of La Jolla.

Nana and Gentry at La Jolla beach.

Our little family.

If you look closely, you can see all the seals hanging out on the rock. The seals are the reason I wanted to go to La Jolla. We didn't see as many as I was hoping, but that just means we'll have to go back :)

We made the bad decision of letting Gentry run around the backyard (which is just a dirt pit) with the dogs and this is what he looked like after just a couple minutes...boys will be boys!

Mommy and Gentry at the Wild Animal Park.

Gentry harassing a one-eyed deer (I think it was actually some other animal, but it looks like a deer, so close enough). He chased this poor 'deer' around the whole time we were in the petting zoo. The poor thing was probably glad to see us leave!

Enjoying a day at the beach. We were lucky and have beautiful weather the whole week Mom was here.

Nana showing Gentry how to splash. We found this little cove at the beach that is perfect for kids. Since it's a cove, there are no waves so Gentry can actually play in the water without taking a beating.
We are so thankful that my mom came out to visit. It was so nice to have her here and makes me even more excited to go home for Christmas. One day we'll live close to our families....

Baby Guard #2

I finally had my first appointment yesterday. I got to see the baby and hear the heartbeat. Such an amazing thing :) I wish Mitchell could have been there to experience it. The doctor said everything looks good so far and that I am due April 14,2011. Though she said I most likely won't make it that far since second babies tend to come early. Let's hope she's right! Here's the first picture of Baby Guard #2:

Are you ready for some football?!

It's that time of year again, folks. Time for some HOKIE FOOTBALL!! It was a big day in our house, so of course, Gentry was dressed appropriately...

Thanks to Uncle Michael and Aunt Esther, he's got a jersey for this season.

Daddy was a bit excited :) I think this was during a touchdown.

Just hanging out with Daddy watching some Hokie football :)
I love my two hokie boys!

Playground Fun

We've had some great weather lately, so we've been spending a lot of time at the parks around our house. Our neighborhood has about 5 different "tot lots" so we've been to a few of those and then there is a great shaded playground down by the lake (about a 3 minute drive). I like the one by the lake because it has turf, so Gentry doesn't get dirty :) Here are some pics of him at the parks:

Just hanging around:)

He loves the swings!

It looks like Daddy is about to kick him down the slide...don't worry, he's not!

Still working on getting ready to go down the slide.

Trying out the slide on the other side.

He likes to go down backwards and on his tummy. He just giggles and giggles!

Daddy and Gentry at the "Blue playground." That's what everyone in our neighborhood calls it.

He needed a lift from Daddy to reach this toy.

Here he is going down the short slide all by himself! He's getting to be such a big boy!

The Month of August

We've been pretty busy lately. I've been volunteering on base at the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society twice a week this month. So that means that Gentry has been in day care twice a week as well. He's doing so well. No more tears at drop off and he is usually asleep when I pick him up (unfortunately, I always get off right after nap time starts).
We've also been busy with Christian Women's Fellowship and playgroup. Gentry's loves getting together with all the other children.

Here's a few pics from this month:

This is how Gentry was sleeping when I went to wake him up one morning.

This is a guilty face. I had just caught him eating a bread stick out of the trash can. Gross!

One afternoon, things were eerily quiet in the house. I searched around for Gentry and caught him in his room with all of his books pulled out and he was flipping through them. I ran to get the camera and by the time I came back, he had ventured into the hallway and was showing off his belly.

Gentry's first experience with Chef Boyardee...

I think he liked it! I, however, didn't like cleaning up the mess.

Daddy and Gentry were having fun using the mailing labels we got in the mail. I know Gentry looks guilty here, but Daddy did this to him...

He's such a cutie! Though I may be a bit bias :)

Coming Soon to a Loved One Near You....

BABY GUARD #2!!
Gentry's going to be a BIG BROTHER! We're expecting our second bundle of joy around April 7, 2011. We're super excited and can't wait for the next 7 months to fly by!

We think he's pretty excited....

Or maybe he's not....
